Weeks ago the demolition of the Golden Nugget had come to a standstill... until today. April 20th, 2009 she fell. On a gray and gloomy Monday what was left of the Golden Nugget Mine Ride came crashing down, disappearing forever from the Wildwood skyline. Through wind driven rains the demolition crew worked to bring her down in only a matter of hours. All that is left standing as of 4 o'clock this day is the loading station... this too will be gone come Tuesday. I spent the entire day watching our friend fade away - tough to watch but overall I felt a sense of relief for the Nugget. That is it... the last of the great Hunt's Super Custom Rides. Up until now so many of us still referred to this pier as Hunt's Pier... I believe after today that too has come to an end.
Video of the demolition will soon follow.
